Based on the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, Zog Live on Stage flies into Brighton in Feb 2020 in a brand new adaptation from Freckle Productions, the team behind Stick Man and Tabby McTat. The show brings the world of Zog to life with handcrafted puppets and original songs played live on stage. Featuring Zog, Princess Pearl and all of their dragon pals, it’s a real delight to watch and stays true to the much loved story.
We were lucky enough to see Zog Live on Stage in Worthing last year, and my two children loved it. I was initially worried about my daughter being scared – she’s read the book and seen the animation, but she really enjoyed it.
The production is very clever – rather than being a load of performers in massive dragon costumes, it’s a combination of puppets and performers that create the characters. Plus of course, a ‘real’ Princess Pearl, who gets to belt out the original songs written exclusively for the show.
It plays at Brighton Dome from 19th to 21st February 2020 so it’s perfect for a half term family treat. You can find out more and see the other UK tour dates on the Zog website.
