Review ~ Spice Pioneer Power Pods

Spice Pioneer Power Pods

Finding tasty options for dinner can be a tricky, yes there are loads of amazing recipes out there but often you need a full Waitrose ingredients section just to make them (plus a few hours or days). It’s just not practical for busy weekdays, the last thing I want to do after work, bath and bed time is roast chicken grind a load of spices I’ve never heard of.

We jumped at the chance to try Power Pods by Spice Pioneer.

These are flavour mix pots, ready to use to make your dinners extra special. They’re available in five flavours:

  • Katsu Curry
  • Peri-peri chicken
  • Fajitas
  • Chicken lollipops
  • Chilli con carne

And before you get all stroppy, yes of course you can use other proteins than chicken.

The pots are really easy to use, with a recipe on the box. Add the Power Pod at the appropriate step and you’re good to go. You will need extra ingredients but nothing out of the ordinary. The recipes are quick too, we’ve made peri-peri chicken and katsu curry so far and the cooking time was only 30 minutes. There are suggestions on the box for how to serve, but you can mix it up (perhaps take inspiration from your favourite chicken restaurant?!)

The flavours are really good, taking the dishes to the next level that would be very difficult to achieve yourself for an amateur). They definitely give a boost to ordinary weekday meals.

Spice Pioneer Power Pods contain enough flavour mix to serve four people and cost from £1.99 on the Spice Pioneer website.
