Review ~ Playmobil EverDreamerz

Since 1974, hordes of children around the world have played and enjoyed Playmobil (or Play People as they were known in our house). The multiple characters, playsets and accessories meant that a whole host of stories and adventures could be created and many memories made. I remember with fondness the ice skating grandparent figures my sister and I had, skating on a tin foil lake made by our mum.

Even with 3.5 billion figures produced, the appeal of Playmobil tails off as children get older. At the moment my 5 year old daughter loves them, but my 7 year old son says that they’re too young for him.

Playmobil have stepped up to the task though, with the EverDreamerz range, aimed at 7+ girls and boys. Following on from the successful launch of EverDreamerz series 1, a second series has now been released. The series follows the adventures of five girl characters, who are transported into a fantasy land when they touch a magic amulet. This time around it’s Comic World, which comes from the imagination of Edwina, the sporty, comic mad central figure of the series.

Playmobil Everdreamerz Series 2
Meet Edwina and her range of surprises…

Each figures in Series 2 comes with eight surprises – magic pet, collectible card, sticker, charm, bead, accessories, bracelet and a magic pen. The five main figures are themed with comic style outfits and accessories.

In true ‘surprise’ box style, the package unfolds to reveal the surprises inside. What makes a nice change to other similar style products is that the main boxes are cardboard and it is only the final bags containing each surprise that are made of plastic. The cardboard boxes elegantly fit together and therefore can be used again (and provide useful storage for the many small pieces)

The Verdict

Playmobil Everdreamerz are a great addition to the Playmobil range, with the figures and accessories all interchangeable with the existing sets. My daughter had great fun when Edwina visited her take-along house family, and it encouraged her to make up new stories for the characters.

She was also particularly keen on the water pen and magic stickers, which came to life when coloured in with the pen. They dry quickly so can be re-used multiple times.

The Everdreamerz sets are definitely more suited to older children, with very small accessories and some fiddly parts that I needed to help with. Once everything has been unwrapped though, my daughters imagination took over and she was well away!
