Review ~ Come Back For Me by Heidi Perks

Now You See Her by Heidi Perks made it on to my list of all time favourite books last year and I’ve recommended it to absolutely everybody. It’s full of intrigue, twists and turns and fast paced action.

Come Back For Me is another great novel from Heidi Perks. It’s got all the hallmarks of a classic whodunnit, with a cast of characters, multiple suspects and the police trying to get to the conclusion. But as with Heidi Perks’ previous novels, what you expect to happen really doesn’t!

The story starts with a family escaping (or running away?) from their island home during a storm. It is here that the questions start, and they never stop. The timeline shifts to the present day, when a body is discovered in the garden of the family home of Stella, who was a daughter on that boat. Who is the body? How long have they been there? What’s the connection?

The story unfolds from there, at a pace at times but frustratingly slow at others. You’ll definitely find yourself shouting at the characters!

Heidi Perks’ storytelling is as high a standard as her other novels, and what really sets her apart is that the stories are thought provoking, The characters and situations will stay with you long after you have finished the last page. In particular with this book, I’ve thought a lot about what it would be like living in a small island community, particularly in the family circumstances that Stella finds herself in. You can see the haunting trailer for the book here.

This is another must read and you won’t want to put it down! You can order the ebook from the 1st June and in hardback from 11th July (affiliate link).
