We had such an amazing time seeing Wallace in Gromit in Concert, it’s a real treat for all the family. Now you don’t even need to leave your sofa to enjoy the show and can stream it from the Edinburgh Fringe until 30th August.
Live orchestral accompaniment throughout the programme is provided by the Picture House
Orchestra, a professional orchestra comprising some of the country’s finest musicians. They are conducted by Steven Magee, an expert in syncing music to film with split-second precision, and the presenter is Matthew Sharp, an internationally renowned musician, actor and performer.
Matthew is a great presenter, not your typical orchestra muscian at all! Plus you’ll have a lot of fun picking out all the amazing costumes worn by the orchestra (with my personal favourite being Mr Cheese Head)
In the first half of the programme the audience sees Wallace preparing to perform his musical masterpiece My Concerto in Ee Lad with help from his faithful companion, Gromit. This interactive experience features specially created animations and montages as well as live orchestral accompaniment and escapades from the orchestra and Matthew Sharp (including a stunning rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody). Following this, audiences are able to enjoy the all-time classic animation, The Wrong Trousers, with live orchestral accompaniment.
The orchestra really brings the animation to life and gives it a new dimension, even if you have watched it many many times before. It’s perfect for a family treat for the summer holidays, and is super easy to book!
