Totbag ~ Awesome Autumn Edition

Cotton totbag with autumn leaves

Recently we’ve been reviewing a number of new subscription boxes, with a whole range of activities involved from maths to gardening to singing. We’ve really enjoyed the outdoor activities over the summer months, and I was getting a bit concerned that come autumn and wintertime that we’d be stuck indoors.

However, the totbag has come to the rescue! It’s a new subscription box and is aimed at younger pre-schoolers. It’s mission is to get children adventuring in the great outdoors, and then making projects with the ‘nature treasures’ that they find.

The box even includes a mini-sized tote bag for your little one to collect their treasures, along with all the materials you need for the projects.

Here’s the projects in the Awesome Autumn box:

Spooky spider web using twigs collected outdoors plus the wool, pipe cleaners, pom pom and eyes from the totbag

Leafy light catcher, using the cardboard frame, pencils and sticky-backed plastic plus ‘nature treasures’ such as leaves and petals

Leafy weave mobile using the cardboard leaf shapes, pencils and coloured wool from the totbag

The totbox was brilliant for my three year old daughter. The activities were simple enough for her to do and encouraged lots of discussion! She particularly liked making the leafy light catcher, which is a great concept and definitely one that we could replicate again – I’m already planning what we could use to create Christmassy ones!

What I really like about the totbox is that the activities and projects do encourage you to get outside with your child, initially to look for the nature treasures but also to enjoy the great outdoors. There’s helpful tips for parents in the booklet of things to look out for and explore. Having a planned outcome somehow made me more motivated to go out in the cold, and both myself and my daughter really enjoyed our trip.

Subscriptions start at £5.95 (+£1 P&P) per month for the three activity box, with the first month free. You can also purchase a six or twelve month subscription. There’s a larger version available too – the seasonal totbag has six activities and extra games and is £14.95 + £2.95 P&P.

You can find totbag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  1. I love crafts that utilise things the kids can find in nature, it combines two of my favourite things: crafting and getting outside and going on adventures. Thanks for sharing at #KidsandKreativity, hope to see you back next time x

  2. I’m all for things that get children out and about exploring. We’ve made a suncatcher with petals before. You have made me think that creating one in a festive design or with seasonal finds or even red and white tissue paper may make for a great festive suncatcher. #KidsandKreativity
