Couple watching TV after getting the kids to bed

Busy Mum's Guide To logoWhen you’re a parent, time is precious, and time just being a grown-up is even more precious. If you’re anything like me, by the time you’ve cooked two lots of dinners, done bath and bedtime and some housework, all you want to do is collapse in a heap on the sofa. I just don’t have the mental energy to sit and think about what I want to watch, let alone the patience to be scrolling through endless lists of films and TV programmes.

I want inspiration, right there in front of me, and no waiting hours for something to download. And don’t get me started on buffering.Amazon Prime 30 day trialAmazon Prime is brilliant for this. It’s got a really easy to use layout, with thumbnails and mini descriptions of the films and TV shows you can choose from. For adults, you can catch up on all of the great films that you didn’t see at the cinema because you were busy having kids – The Girl on the Train, How to be Single, The Great Gatsby, Logan Lucky and Inception are just a few of the blockbusters to choose from.

There’s also a great choice for kids too, so you can stick a film on and get a few minutes to yourself (there’s no point turning your nose up, we’ve all done it). Gnomeo and Juliet, Ballerina, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Alvin and the Chipmunks are just a few that caught my eye.

All of the movies are shown in categories, so you can take a good browse if you want to, but the new and popular releases are shown at the top!

Then there’s the exclusive TV series – Mr Robot, Lucifer, Taken (set as a prequel to the film) and my absolute favourite – Sneaky Pete. I admit I am over obsessed with this, it’s about a con man who goes to live with his cellmates’ family but impersonating him. There are multiple twists and turns, and some completely unexpected moments. It’s binge TV at it’s very best, with the quality being as good as watching a great film at the cinema.

When you sign up to Amazon Prime, there also lots of other time saving benefits. Not least the ext day delivery option available on the majority of products. It’s perfect for last minute present panics, or the ‘my school shoes don’t fit anymore’ moments (or is that just me?)

I also stock up on presents when there are Lightning Deals or the joy that is Black Friday, because you get early access to the deals through your Prime membership. Plus you can take out one book a month through the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library, perfect for a bit of escapism during night time wake-ups! Prime Music has over two million songs, playlists and stations available to stream, although perhaps tell your kids that there’s only grown-up songs on there!

There’s currently a great deal on the Amazon Prime service where you can get a 30 day free trial, so that’s 30 days of free films, free TV shows (for both you and the kids!) and free next day delivery, plus all the other perks that come with it. And if you decide you love it as much as me, you can then get a membership for just £7.99 a month or a one off £79, which I think is well worth the money when you take into account the delivery charges and special deals you have access to.

  1. We recently transferred from spotify to Amazon music and also the prime account. It’s hard to resist the temptation not to get everything delivered to your door!
Thanks for linking up to #coolmumclub

  2. Definitely agreee, how did we manage before amazon! I love saving films to my watch list so I can easily find what I want when I get a chance to sit down! Michelle x

  3. My Prime membership is probably the most valuable subscription we have. It has saved my bacon so many times for the “dressing up day” that C forgot to tell me about or the birthday I didn’t have on the calendar or the “it’s broken and I don’t have time to shop for a new one” panic moments!

I enjoy quite a few of the Prime box sets (I highly recommend This is Us!) and C has the Amazon Kids service on his Kindle so I know he’s always accessing age appropriate content.
