Review ~ Mrs Mactivity Resources for Easter

Boy colouring in Easter flowers picture

My two children (aged five and two and a half) love drawing and colouring, although ‘keeping in the lines’ is a fairly loose concept for my daughter at the moment!

We’re always looking for new inspiration beyond the standard princesses, superheroes and dinosaurs, so I was really excited to discover the Mrs Mactivity website. This lovely site features lots of activity sheets based on different themes, and suitable for different age groups (up to Year two). Everything is hand drawn and really appealing (some of them even tempt me into picking up the colouring pencils!) There’s a good range of activities, from simple colouring tasks to crafts, plus everything is designed to be as ink-friendly as possible.

You can sign up for a free account, which gives you access to a whole load of resources, or upgrade to a Premium account for a set fee every year (currently £9.97) which gives you enhanced access.

I really like the ethos of the website, it’s been created by current and ex-teachers who understand the pressures being faced by children these days. Their aim is to do the ‘thinking’ for us, so that we as parents can enjoy quality time with our children doing some fun activities.

As Easter is fast approaching, I downloaded some of the Easter themed resources. What’s really nice is that they can be used as colouring sheets, but most of them have an activity as well. There are also some educational activities available, but without being too school-like.

Easter flower basket – a lovely colouring sheet featuring a basket full of daffodils, which can be coloured in and then cut out (using the very helpful cutting line)

Easter flower wreath – three different flower wreaths to colour in, cut out and hang up. These were great for encouraging conversations about the types of flowers, and whether we could grow them in the garden.

Egg and Chick Number Bonds – a clever maths game which has 10 egg shapes, with two different numbers on each. The aim is to match the numbers up so that all of the eggs equal 10.

The number bonds egg game was very popular with my son, because he could colour the eggs in and practice his cutting skills (each egg is ‘split’ with a different line). Then we could practice his maths skills in a gentle way (when his sister didn’t steal the pieces!)

I have to say I’m completely in love with this website! The drawings are beautiful, and a real step above some of the other activity sheets I’ve seen. The educational aspect to them is a real bonus too.

  1. What a wonderful review thank you! And it’s so lovely that you mention our ethos, as we really are committed to making learning fun, but doing it the right way. Great pictures as well! Thank you so much ❤️

  2. This looks great – like you I often struggle for topical themed ideas with the kids at home. I’ve entered! (Might need to look into getting a printer though!)

    Thanks for sharing with #coolmumclub
