My children are seven and four and in recent months we’ve started to get more and more into board games; partly as a way to have a bit less screen time but also to try and encourage some quality family bonding.
It’s quite hard to find games which both of my children can play equally and really enjoy, as many are either too grown up or too ‘babyish’ for my eldest.
We were lucky enough to try out Baa Baa Bubbles and it was an instant hit!
The premise is simple, you take turns to pick up a token which has a number on it. Depending on the number you press the sheep’s head down until it makes a squeaking noise. This also makes its bubble wool expand. However, if the sheep sneezes and the bubbles burst, you don’t get to keep your token!
Setting up the game is really easy, you just add the bubble mix using the applicator and you’re good to go. You don’t need much of the bubble mix and it lasts a good number of turns.
A few things we learned after a few rounds:
Make sure that you’ve pushed down the ‘sneeze activator’ before you start every turn.
The effect is much funnier when there is a lot of wool, so we pumped it up to make a lot of bubbles and then started.
When you first set it up you need to apply a couple of layers of bubbles and push the sheep’s head a fair few times to get it going, but then you’re well away!
We all love Baa Baa Bubbles, it’s got a brilliant element of surprise every time and it’s easy enough for my children to play together. I’m looking forward to trying it out with drunk relatives over Christmas too….
Baa Baa Bubbles is widely available and costs from £10.00.
