I can’t really express how excited I am to have found the new Pop Reads range of books. I’m a big music fan, and often find myself subconsciously quoting song lyrics at my kids (without them having the faintest clue what I’m on about!)
Pop Reads takes some of our favourite songs and combines them with super cool illustrations, to give you fantastic new range of books to enjoy with your children. There’s ABC by the Jackson Five, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper and Perfect Day by Lou Reed, amongst others. Pop Reads has licence to work with the Sony ATV catalogue of music, featuring more than 3.5 million hits from the likes of The Beatles and Queen, as well as more recent artists like Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.
It would have been really easy to stick to the lyrics or videos of each song, and illustrate them in a twee way. Instead, each book has a range of awesome characters and bold designs which are frankly brilliant. I’m loving the pirates in ABC and the bearded snowman in I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.
As if that wasn’t enough, the first special edition releases of each of the Pop Reads books come with an instrumental version of each song on vinyl, so that you can really immerse yourself in the music!
Pop Reads is the brainchild of Jonathan who is a dad from Brighton. He’s a designer by day and has produced all of the Pop Reads books in his spare time.
